Aquaculture is a growth industry for New Zealand and in 2019 the Government released a strategy for developing Aquaculture.
The NZ Government Aquaculture Strategy
The aim of this strategy is to make the industry more:
- Sustainable
- Productive
- Resilient
- Inclusive
Within this strategy the Government have indicated that they want the Aquaculture industry to grow from $600million in annual sales to $3billion in annual sales by 2035.
In 2021, they followed this up by releasing the implementation plan.
