Factory Worker - Machine Operator

Aroma Nz is family owned manufacturing business turning marine products into health supplements.
Due to growth plan we have vacancies on day and night shifts at our Havelock Factory for operators/laborer's.

Shift hours are normally 8-9 hours but some overtime maybe required depending on production needs. Shift times will be discussed at interviews.

We pay overtime rates, shift allowance and travel allowance if living outside Havelock boundaries.

If you have good work ethic, can pass a drug test and have good references, give us a call.

The Marine Farming Association Inc (MFA) is a self-funding subscription-based organisation, representing marine farmers across the top of the South Island. The Association’s purpose is to promote and advocate for sustainable aquaculture on behalf of its members.

In this role you will be responsible for managing the monthly financials, creating communications, including newsletters, updating social media, and the associations website, reviewing lease agreements, acting as treasurer for the Havelock Mussel Festival, and organising events that support the associations aims including the Environmental Certification Programme and Beach Cleaning Programme.

To be successful you will need to have at least 5 years’ office management experience, are competent managing a small businesses financial processes, have excellent prioritisation, planning and organisation skills, have experience working with systems (Xero, website administration, MS office applications, managing databases) and enjoy meeting people and engaging with the community.

Aquaculture Manager

The company’s aquaculture division uses state-of-the-art technology and sustainable practices to farm and harvest mussels in the top of the South for processing at their modern factory into high value oil products that are exported globally.

The key responsibility of the Aquaculture Manager is to ensure continuity of supply of product in optimal condition to meet the requirements of the Maclab processing factory. Achieve this security of supply whilst maximising financial returns, implementing effective planning and excellent husbandry practice.

Accountabilities include:
  • Strategy – Provide input into the development and implementation of the Maclab strategic plan.
  • Planning – Planning and forecasting mussel supply to meet demand and optimise yields.
  • Collaboration and effective communication with key staff and suppliers.
  • Operations – Management of growing cycle from spat supply to crop harvest. Oversee maintenance of vessels and gear, manage stock levels and condition of ropes, floats etc.
  • Health & Safety – Ensure vessel compliance with MOSS safety system. Engage staff and contractors and lead by example in the adherence to best practice to ensure safety above 
  • Environmental – Awareness of key environmental issues and impacts. Participation in environmental improvement activities. Essential skills and attributes:
  • Drive – self-motivation and enthusiasm, innovative thinking, desire for continuous improvement.
  • Leadership – Share goals and demonstrate behaviours, values and attitudes expected from the team. Encourage staff to have input into processes and develop their skills.
  • Planning – Proficiency in organisation, planning, and logistics. Be able to respond proactively and quickly to sudden changes in demand or external influences.

Based in Nelson, the Health & Safety / Office Administrator position offers a variety of responsibilities within a supportive small-team environment.

The three key areas of the role are:
  • H&S Administration - MacLab highly values its employees and strives for excellence in Health & Safety practices. Integral to this is the administration which includes the documentation associated with hazard identification, mitigation and management, induction processes for employees and contractors, overseeing training, co-ordination of the H&S Committee, and preparation of reports.
  • Office Administration - This includes maintenance of electronic records for inwards stock, manufacturing and dispatch of finished goods, reception duties, management of office supplies and services, and processing of accounts payable invoices.
  • Executive Support - Preparation of documents, reports and meeting minutes for the CFO and COO, and other secretarial services as required.
